C-130 AMP Virtual Reality Design Center Team

We’re used to tough challenges. That’s why we were chosen to help create and build a high-tech simulation system to streamline a key Boeing program—the C-130 Avionics Modernization Program (C-130 AMP). The program calls for a common avionics suite including a new “glass cockpit” that will keep the C-130 transport flying for another 30 years. But we needed something that would take the heavy lifting out of the design and development of the new technology. So we came up with The Virtual Reality Design Center in Long Beach, Calif., which lets us collaborate with our teammates anywhere in the world. The center is already paying dividends by shrinking design cycle time, optimizing virtual assembly and reducing the need for vehicle mockups. The center’s technology also allows us to validate aircraft installations with flight crews and maintenance personnel and implement design improvements quickly. All this helps us to field AMP solutions faster for our customers. We’re committed to helping the team stay on track for first flight in 2006. We’re proud to be involved in something so important for the future of the U.S. Air Force and Boeing.
